Professor Rodrigo Munduruca started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1995 in Brazil under professors Sylvio Behring and Mauricio Pereira.
Professor Rodrigo was awarded his Black Belt in 2001 and is currently a 4th degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Rolker Gracie and Master Royler Gracie.
Professor Rodrigo immigrated to Canada in 1999 to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was one of the first BJJ teachers in Canada. Since that time, he has made a name for himself and is a renowned and respected instructor as well as an accomplished competitor.
As of January 2018, he has promoted over 20 martial artists to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt across Canada.
He opened his own Gracie Humaitá academy in Winnipeg, Manitoba and currently has six affiliated gyms throughout Canada and two in Mexico .
Professor Rodrigo now resides in San Diego County with his wife and two children and has opened his newest location here in Poway, CA.
As successful as he has been teaching and coaching adults, Professor Rodrigo actually specializes in teaching kids’ classes. He is gentle, patient, and respectful to the kids and they respond well to his kind, fun yet firm, approach to teaching the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
